Megan Chapa confronts the topic of domestic violence for her latest music video “Para La Otra,” released on Monday (May 15).
The powerful visual, filmed and edited by Jerod Johnson, features an abusive relationship and how one moment can change a life forever, or in this case, one phone call.
Chapa and her label, Mazmorra Records, weren’t sure if they were going to release the “Para La Otra” music video.
“It’s a really strong song and the video portrays a really dark issue that a lot of relationships go through and that’s why we were kind of undecided if we were going to put the video out or not,” Chapa said in a video posted on her Facebook page. “We don’t want to offend anybody, especially people going through this type of relationship…But we feel it’s something that goes on every day, it’s real, it happens all the time….We want to put it out there that it’s not okay and it’s okay to walk away from a bad relationship.”
The song is the latest released from the singer’s sophomore album Sueños Inquebrantables and was written by Wences Romo
“This song touches my heart in a very personal way and I am hoping to reach out to as many people possible to know there is always help and a way out of a bad situation,” Chapa posted on Facebook about the video.
“Para La Otra” and the album Sueños Inquebrantables are available now at all digital platforms and MazamorraMusic.com.
